Healthy masculinity involves men taking responsibility and accountability for their actions. This learning video explores the idea of being a true male ally. The module includes ways of recognizing gender stereotypes, patriarchal notions, unlearning traits of toxic masculinity and enhancing those leadership skills that help identify what men need to do on their part to become true ally in eliminating all forms of gender-based violence from our communities. The content in this video will also help you make connections between power abuse and gender oppression that occur in our societies mainly because of the ascribed gender differences.
The content in this video will also help you recognize that the man box is in fact harmful for men themselves and the characteristics of a person described in the man box are unhealthy and often relate to the old, patriarchal values of a society that needs disbanding and demobilizing.
It is very important for the male-identified individuals of our society to become ally in our fight against gender-based violence.
